Ford Tourneo Custom Range Expanded - Automatic Now Available

The practical Tourneo Custom people-mover is now available for the first time with a six-speed automatic gearbox.

The Ford Tourneo Custom is a popular people-mover that provides outstanding flexibility to suit a wide variety of applications, from busy moms and dads transporting children to school and sports matches, businesses relying on it as an upmarket executive shuttle or simply as a spacious and highly adaptable vehicle for large families. 

While numerous optional features like Adaptive Cruise Control are available, the practical Tourneo Custom people-mover is now available for the first time with a six-speed automatic gearbox as well as an all-new dashboard layout incorporating SYNC®3 with an integrated eight-inch touchscreen on the Limited. 

Engine

Powered by the latest generation 2.0-litre Single Turbo diesel engine, the Ford Torneo Custom Bus is powered by the same engine that is in the Ford Ranger and the Ford Everest. 

Two versions of this engine are available;

  • The mid-level Tourneo Custom Trend producing 96kW and 385Nm of torque. 
  • The top-spec Tourneo Custom Limited producing 136kW and 415Nm of torque. 

Interior

 
Ford’s SYNC®3 communications and entertainment system sees its first introduction in the range-topping Tourneo Custom Limited Automatic.

The cabin has been refreshed with an all-new dashboard and instrument panel based on Ford’s new interior design which offers an attractive, user-centric layout that is influenced by consumer interactions with smart devices and tablets. 

The new dashboard has a distinctly upscale appearance, reinforced soft-touch surfaces, and attractive detailing with chrome and gloss black finishes. The new instrument cluster, displays, and control panels have been designed for enhanced ergonomics and ease of use.

The new three-spoke steering wheel is derived from the latest passenger car designs, with a simplified and improved control layout for the audio, telephony, and cruise control functions.

Ford’s SYNC®3 communications and entertainment system sees its first introduction in the range-topping Tourneo Custom Limited Automatic, allowing drivers to control audio functions and connected smartphones using simple, conversational voice commands.

SYNC®3 provides full smartphone integration through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, including the option of using the phone’s navigation apps.

On the Trend Automatic, a four-inch screen is supplied, running SYNC®1 with Bluetooth and voice commands. On both systems, a total of eight USB ports are located throughout the cabin for charging mobile devices. An integrated 230v power socket is available as an optional item to power various devices, such as laptop computers, while on the move.

New seat designs featuring revised foam padding and geometry for optimized support, and to further offer travelling comfort and flexibility the Tourneo Custom offers six individual seats and the two rear rows can be configured in a conference format for outstanding access and enhanced interaction between passengers, or in two rows of three forward-facing seats. 

The new automatic models are equipped as standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, while the existing manual derivatives retain 16-inch rims.

Safety & Standard Features

The Tourneo Custom boasts an extensive array of standard and optional safety features; Front, curtain and side-impact airbags as standard fitment. 

  • Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) with Hill Launch Assist (HLA), 
  • Roll-Over Mitigation (ROM), 
  • Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and Emergency Brake Assist (EBA). 

The extensive range of optional items, available on Trend and Limited models, include front and rear parking sensors, a rear parking camera, Lane Keeping Aid and Lane Departure Warning, as well as the Blind Spot Detection System (BLIS) with Cross-Traffic Alert and trailer coverage.

All models come standard with Ford Protect, comprising a four-year/120 000km comprehensive warranty, three-year/unlimited distance roadside assistance and five-year/unlimited km corrosion warranty. A six-year/90 000km service plan is included, with 15 000km service intervals.
