Ford virtually launches the Figo Freestyle

Quick Facts

  • Engine: Three-cylinder 1.5-liter petrol engine
  • Power/Torque: 91kW Kw/150 nm
  • Transmission: Five-Speed Manual

Ford has virtually launched the Figo Freestyle and addition to the line-up complements Ford’s existing range of active lifestyle-oriented models.

The first-ever Figo Freestyle is placed in the CUV (Compact Utility Vehicle) segment and it is based on the Ford Figo hatchback but has rugged looks and a ground clearance of 190mm, which is 16mm higher than the standard Figo. The bigger wheels, increased ride height and integrated skid plates enhance its capabilities on less-than-perfect roads.

The purposeful and sporty stance is emphasized by the upmarket black painted grille, along with a new sculpted front bumper that not only inspires a sense of confidence but also adds to its rigidity.

The Figo Freestyle is a robust and muscular compact utility vehicle and it is meant to attract young, 'cool' customers who want SUV attributes but design cues of a compact car that look modern, bold, and assertive.

The muscular black wheel arch mouldings reinforce the adventurous theme.

The purposeful and sporty stance is emphasised by the upmarket black painted grille, along with a new sculpted front bumper that not only inspires a sense of confidence but also adds to its rigidity. The distinctive double-spoke 15-inch alloy wheels which are unique to the Figo Freestyle are framed by muscular black wheel arch mouldings that reinforce the adventurous theme, in conjunction with the creatively styled black foglamp housing accents. Special decals applied to the lower sections of the doors, along with “Freestyle” badging on the rear hatch, add further differentiation and youthful flair to this new model.

Roof Rails are also fitted standard on the Ford Figo Freestyle and not only do they make the car look 'cooler', they actually serve a purpose and are very practical, allowing the easy fitment of a roof rack to carry bicycles, canoes or other equipment to suit the owner’s sporting and lifestyle endeavours.

The Figo Freestyle is available in six colour choices, namely;

  • Canyon Ridge
  • Diamond white
  • Smoke Grey
  • Moondust Silver
  • Ruby Red
  • White Gold

The interior of the Figo Freestyle looks quite driver-orientated in my opinion, neatly laid out elements to make sure the driver is not distracted while making sure that everything serves its purpose.

You will find dashboard and door accents that create an exclusive and sophisticated ambience while the contrast stitching adds further visual appeal.

Driving convenience is provided with the standard fitment of reverse parking sensors and should you get the Titanium model, you will find yourself with a reverse camera. The Trend is equipped with Ford’s clever Device Dock which includes Bluetooth, USB and Aux connectivity and a handy receptacle to hold a smartphone.

You upgrade to the Titanium model and you will receive a soft-touch gear shift knob, a sporty steering wheel with remote audio controls, while practical touches on both derivatives include door scuff plates and durable all-weather floor mats.

The Titanium series has a floating 6.5-inch colour display for the SYNC®3 system, which incorporates Bluetooth and voice activation that enables phone and audio functions to be controlled through intuitive, conversational voice commands. Owners can use their smartphone’s navigation functions and a variety of other apps in conjunction with SYNC®3 when seamlessly paired to Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

Other features unique to the Titanium derivative include keyless push-start button, automatic climate control, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, automatic headlamp activation and rain-sensing windscreen wipers.

Additionally, the Figo Freestyle Titanium is equipped with the innovative Ford MyKey that allows owners to programme a key for younger drivers that can inhibit incoming phone calls, restrict top speed, reduce audio system maximum volume and disable the audio system altogether if occupants are not using safety belts.

The Ford Figo Freestyle is powered by Ford’s lively three-cylinder 1.5-litre petrol engine which produces 91kW of power & 150nm of torque.
