South Africa has become the first country outside China to welcome the new LDV D90 SUV, with the initial two units – a D90 Elite and D90 Flagship – now on local soil. These models are here for customer previews and final homologation, with the first customer deliveries expected at the beginning of Q4 2024.
The D90 showcases a striking design, drawing inspiration from the T60 MAX. Its bold front grille is complemented by sleek LED daytime running lights and large automatic LED headlights. All D90 models for the South African market come standard with the LDV Black Package, featuring gloss black door handles, side mirrors, and roof rails, along with prominent black wheel arch moldings. The rear end sports a gloss black roof spoiler and window trim, while a bold LED light bar connects the rear LED lights.
Both the Elite and Flagship models come packed with a plethora of luxury and safety features. Standard amenities include electronic climate control for both front and rear passengers, leather upholstery on all seven seats, dual wireless charging pads with USB ports in both the front and rear, and a large 12.3” high-resolution infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The Flagship model steps it up with massaging heated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, upgraded 20” diamond-cut alloy wheels, and a premium 12-speaker JBL sound system, enhancing the already impressive 8-speaker setup found in the Elite.
Under the hood, the D90 is powered by a 2-litre dual-turbodiesel engine delivering 160 kW and 500 Nm, paired with an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission. This engine, also found in the T90 MAX, is known for its smooth power delivery and efficient fuel consumption. All D90 models come with 4x4 capability and Low Range, with the Flagship model boasting front and rear differential locks in addition to the Elite’s central differential lock, providing robust off-road performance.
Safety is a top priority in the D90, with both models equipped with six airbags, adaptive cruise control, an inbuilt dash cam, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, and electronic stability control. The Flagship adds a 360-degree panoramic view camera system and other advanced features. The D90 has already earned a five-star ANCAP safety rating.
Spacious and versatile, the D90 comfortably accommodates seven occupants thanks to its 2,950 mm wheelbase and overall body length of 5,046 mm. It can also tow a braked trailer up to 3,100 kg.
As with all LDV models, the D90 comes with a 5-year/200,000 km mechanical warranty and a 5-year/100,000 km service plan.
