The Audi A4 comes with a host of new upgrades with the biggest upgrade being Audi connect technology and a new MMI touch display.
Audi Connect technology focuses on integrating the structures that use online connectivity with the vehicle, to provide real-time information and multiple digital functions. This includes delivering internet services to the car via an embedded sim (installed directly into the vehicle) and used through the myAudi app.
Exterior
The new Audi A4 now looks even sportier and sophisticated and features Audi's new design language which is seen in all of the brand's offerings. A broader and flatter single-frame grille with horizontal lines that emphasize the width at the front and rear is easily noticed.
LED headlights now come standard in the Audi A4 and are available in different variations. The 35 TFSI features low beam, high beam and daytime running lights in LED technology. The 40 TFSI and S4 will feature a higher version of LED including a different daytime running light design and dynamic indicators for the rear; also available optionally is the top-of-the-line Matrix LED headlights with fully automatic high beam.
The Audi A4 will also come in three trim concepts; Standard, Advanced and S-Line with the S-Line model being the cream of the crop. The S-Line model will have a high gloss styling package to accentuate its exterior look.

There is also an option to upgrade the wheels to 19-inches for a further sportier look. The Audi S4 will come standard with 19-inch wheels as well as a choice of three designs to choose from.
12 exterior colours are also available for customers with a new colour called Terra Grey being introduced as well.
Interior
The Audi A4's interior features a high-resolution TFT 10.1-inches new MMI (Multi-Media Interface) touch display which is slightly tilted towards the driver.
There are also various interior customizations available with the Standard trim receiving either leather or leatherette colour combinations while the S-Line interior comes with Fine Nappa leather with S embossing.
For those looking at night lighting, you will be happy to know that the LED ambient lighting in the interior is standard, however, the contour/ambient lighting package adds highlights to the interior in the dark for a very premium finish and is included as part of the Technology Package.
With its new MMI system has acoustic feedback, the highly connected Audi A4 offers a user experience similar to a contemporary smartphone. The new MMI touch screen replaces the functions of the previous rotary/pushbutton control on the centre tunnel console.
The MMI search is based on free text input and returns hits rapidly. The natural-language voice control, another function of the new system, understands many of the phrases used in everyday speech. Audi smartphone interface (which enables Apple CarPlay and Android Auto) is also standard on all models within the range.
Navigation in the new Audi A4 is reportedly now more versatile and user-friendly, customers who opt for the Audi Technology Package will be glad to hear that this package includes MMI Navigation Plus, MMI touch and the full functionality of Audi Connect. The Audi A4 is also the first model in South Africa to bring in the fully integrated connectivity.
Audi Connect - Includes a host of online services which offer advanced infotainment, navigation and Car-to-X services which take advantage of the swarm intelligence to service, safety and convenience built into the connected A4.
Engine Options
Audi will be offering the A4 model line with three turbocharged engines in South Africa. Their power outputs range from 110 kW to 260 kW – from the Audi A4 35 TFSI up to the Audi S4 TFSI. All Audi A4 models will feature an Automatic transmission as Standard.
- Audi A4 35 TFSI - 2.0 TFSI engine producing 110kW/270nm
- Audi A4 40 TFSI - 2.0 TFSI engine producing 140kW/320nm
- Audi S4 - 3.0 V6 TFSI engine producing 260kW/500nm
The Audi A4 35 TFSI and 40 TFSI will feature a mild-hybrid system (MHEV) based on 12 volts, this is to reduce fuel consumption while improving comfort. In everyday use, the MHEV system is claimed to reduce fuel consumption by up to 0.3 litres per 100 kilometres according to individual Audi measurements.
The Audi S4 TFSI - V6 Power!
The Audi S4 will feature a 3.0-litre V6 TFSI engine from the previous S4 generation, the engine produces 260kW and a whopping 500nm of torque. The S4 sprints from 0-100km/h in just 4.7s and will max out at 250km/h.
